The two are genuinely not comparable. Organized religions are often terrible, abusive superstitions, but there are degrees to the thing. Jehovah's Witnesses are at the degree of public danger

What if the true vacuum state is just different enough for new physics, such that everyone gets psychic powers and nothing else changes.

Granted but they're not the same thing. Ethnic cleansing is more broad then genocide, and genocide TECHNICALLY doesn't have to be ethnic cleansing (but as far as I know always has been).
IMO ethnic cleansing in general can be more insidious. If you drive people from their homes and replace them with your own settlers, that's ethnic cleansing. But it's complex enough that the right wing will deny that it is such.

Repeatedly targeting civilian populations with remote strikes amounts to genocide. Thousands of children have been murdered. Kicking Palestinians out of there homes for Israeli settlers is ethnic cleansing.
