Comments repeating? (self.lemmyconnect)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by Aimhere to c/[email protected]

Hi,

While using Connect for Lemmy, as I am scrolling through the comments on a post, I always get to a point where the comments start to repeat from the beginning, even though I never tried to scroll back to the top.

What's more, if I keep on scrolling, it eventually happens again. I never can get to the end of the comments, because the list just keeps repeating.

Has anyone else seen this happen? I'm wondering if the arrival of a new comment causes the thread to start over from the top?

Edit: Connect 1.0.73 (73) on a Google Pixel 6a. Android 13.

Hello! Hope this community grows!

Thank you for everything you do. With any luck, you'll get all the support you need, and have it running smooth as silk.

Hell give them your Social Security card.

Heck, Google usually includes Reddit results in general searches anyway, conveniently grouped together near the top of the results. We can only hope they start doing the same for Lemmy (and the Fediverse in general).

Not sure "Starship Troopers" is the best inspirational message for Fediverse users. I mean, the entire franchise is really about the effects of fascism and indoctrination, the humans-versus-aliens combat is just a delightful bonus.

I'd rather not fuck the fascists. Might inadvertently breed more future fascists.

I wouldn't say that I'm any more or less active a poster on Lemmy versus Reddit. If the community has a topic I'm interested in and engaging content, I will post and reply.

Nice analogy. Only problem, neither of the combatants is Godzilla, so there's no one for us humans to cheer for. It's more like Ghidorah versus another Ghidorah, the latter being nothing but Kevin heads.

Chill cat is chill.

Sadly, Google Search doesn't seem to index Lemmy instances the way it does Reddit.

Sure, you can add "site: lemmy.world" to your search strings, but that mostly returns links to community or user feeds that mention your search terms, not links to the actual posts. And it doesn't group the results together for convenience, the way it does for Reddit.

Hopefully, this will change as Lemmy becomes more popular. We could also outright ask Google to start treating Lemmy this way.

Absolutely not! You're not the boss of me! 😂
