Howdy,

With the recent bump in CM Punk fracas going on, now seems like a good time to remind everyone of proper post title etiquette.

When linking to an article, your post title should clearly state who the article is from, and preferably use the title provided by the article itself.

For example:

If Fightful posts an article titled "Wrestler does a thing, other wrestler angry"

your title should be something similar to:

[Fightful] "Wrestler does a thing, other wrestler angry"

if you're posting from a twitter report from, say, SRS, same general process but instead it would be:

[SRS on Twitter] "Wrestler does a thing, other wrestler angry"

KBin doesn't have a way to do removal reasons like reddit does, so if you see a post get removed chances are this is probably why.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Howdy,

I have added @TellumSiege and @Neon_Carnivore to our mod team.

Both have been active members of the community here and I believe will be excellent additions to this growing community.

As of right now, kbin only allows the creator of a magazine to access the "mod tools" for the community, but this is something that is being addressed.

What this means is that the new mods may not always see reports right away. In the case of an urgent issue, such as spam or rule breaking content, please either message someone directly or reach out to me on Discord at a_kitty_cat or at twitter: @sc_akittycat.

While we are here, if anyone has suggestions for ways to improve the community please feel free to voice them here or by messaging me directly.

Again, thank you for your patience during this time and continuing to stick with the community here.

I don't think kbin has much in the way of power privileges right now so it's sorta get what you get, but we can figure things out as we go.

Like stated, I basically can't leave so I'm happy to handle the "admin" side of things.

Any suggestions, comments, thoughts, feelings, or concerns? Please post them as a response to this comment, or DM me directly.

Howdy /m/SC.

First off, i'd like to apologize for basically disappearing, lifes been doing its best to be a hassle. I have stepped down from /r/SC as a mod as well, but apparently since I "own" this community I can't exactly do that here.

SO.

With that being the case, It's time we get more active mods on the scene here to start making this community more of a functional entity.

I was reached out to and told that this was being discussed by the community already, so hopefully this is a straight forward enough process.

Since this is a new community, and there isn't a precedent for this yet I figure we let the community itself have a hand in choosing.

To start, we will open the floor to nominations, either yourself or someone you feel deserves the spot in helping lead and continue shaping what this community will become.

If interested in nominating please comment on this post with the following:

  • Username (With link to profile preferred)

  • An explanation for why the person you are nominating should be chosen. If nominating yourself, provide some background on your experience moderating a community or helping lead a group.

We will leave discussion open for at least a week: 7/20/2023 - 7/27 2023 and hopefully have a functional mod team in place by the start of August.

Honestly, there isn't much ive done besides set it up and try to generally get things settled. The users posting and sharing content here are the real ones who deserve the praise.

Howdy Y'all,

With the subreddit opening today there's been plenty of questions regarding whether or not we'd be shutting down this instance.

Short answer is : "No"

Long answer is : "Noooooooooooo"

There's no reason to, and as far as things go this has mostly been ignored by the mod team at large, outside of a few of us (me, gloom, willpauer) there really hasn't been any legitimate discussion or focus given.

With that, I don't intend to close this magazine, and instead keep it open and, if anything, try to more actively work on building an alternative community here as an offshoot for those who prefer to stick to the fediverse rather than reddit going forward.

That being said, kbin is having it's growing pains and there is discussion about this versus Lemmy, I am open to any discussions or suggestions about what next steps we should consider in this community.

For those of you who have been trying to grow something here: I see you, I respect you, and I don't intend to do anything to stifle that.

Whatever reason you have for coming to this corner of the IWC, as long as you're respecting one another you're welcome here.

If you're the dude from Reddit who made a new account every other week to talk about Baron Corbin, i'll be honest, it's really reassuring seeing you here.

Howdy yall,

As it stands right now we are still sticking by the blackout on Reddit, and based on the news leaking out of Reddit HQ, we're going to be here a while.

What this means is that for the immediate future, this "magazine" here will be the "official" landing spot for SquaredCircle for the time being. There is obviously a lot of uncertainty and Kbin is still prototyping but for now it is the most immediately usable federated alternative.

Any questions, concerns, or suggestions should be directed to our Discord linked on the pinned post of this community. If you are having issues accessing the discord please feel free to reach out to me, AKittyCat, directly at a_kitty_cat on discord or @SC_AKittyCat on Twitter.

Again, this community is still "unofficial" in the sense that we have not officially made a move, but it is the most official version of SquaredCircle that exists at this moment.

We thank those of you who have been trying to help build this community back up and have been active on our discord in the mean time.

Regardless of where things go from here, your support for this community is deeply appreciated.
