Howdy yall,

As it stands right now we are still sticking by the blackout on Reddit, and based on the news leaking out of Reddit HQ, we're going to be here a while.

What this means is that for the immediate future, this "magazine" here will be the "official" landing spot for SquaredCircle for the time being. There is obviously a lot of uncertainty and Kbin is still prototyping but for now it is the most immediately usable federated alternative.

Any questions, concerns, or suggestions should be directed to our Discord linked on the pinned post of this community. If you are having issues accessing the discord please feel free to reach out to me, AKittyCat, directly at a_kitty_cat on discord or @SC_AKittyCat on Twitter.

Again, this community is still "unofficial" in the sense that we have not officially made a move, but it is the most official version of SquaredCircle that exists at this moment.

We thank those of you who have been trying to help build this community back up and have been active on our discord in the mean time.

Regardless of where things go from here, your support for this community is deeply appreciated.

Just want to commend you guys for keeping the blackout going. Great stuff.

First time being on kbin and it's not too bad. Hopefully you can mention this place in the /sc res. message soon and drive some traffic here.

Also it's be great if we can get a live thread (magazine? still a noob here) going for Raw/Dynamite/Impact/NJPW/etc. Outside of that keep up the great work guys.

Magazines are subreddits, What you mean is threads, ;)
Kbin is not bad, but with the dev team, we hope to make it great! Lot of contributions, lot of features requested and bugs reported, and I promise the community of contributors is working hard to fill them!

If you know a bit of coding, check it here: https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/

Thanks! I've slowly started to figure out the differences. I'm really liking it so far.

And I think I'm too stupid to code. The only coding I can do is the kind that gives me unlimited ammo in GTA lol.

Pack it in, at this point even if reddit caves, this will be a better long term fit than reddit.

Cool stuff. Thanks for fighting the good fight on the Reddit stuff, and I think we could do worse than this for a permanent home if worst comes to worst.

BTW, I'm CuvisTheConqueror on Reddit. Decided to change my handle a bit.

Pardon my ignorance but how do I subscribe here?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

There should be a button on the right side under the SquaredCircle picture that says subscribe. I assume that works, I just created an account here so I'm still new.

Click on the kbin button (top left or right) and then scroll down to the squaredcircle logo. The 'subscribe' button should be just below it.

Replying to suggest the same thing as /u/kunic - add a form of this to the subs private message so people know where to go.

I think for the subreddits that have committed to an indefinite blackout, coming up with a truly official replacement is the next step.

If you decide to move to Kbin, maybe put the subreddit on restricted and leave only a message telling people to migrate here.

If all the big subs that are still protesting do this, then an actual exodus can start taking place, and now that's truly scary for Reddit. As it currently stands, the communities still exist, they just have nowhere to go with their subs on private, and might not know of the alternatives.

I agree, an exodus only really works if folks agree on a place to go. Otherwise it's like the twitter situation where some his mastodon, others hit cohost, and none really get critical mass.

You don't need to kill reddit to succed, just create a viable alternative. This place will be a lot better if Kbin ends up the AEW to Reddit's WWE, instead of say- the local indie that pays in hotdogs and handshakes.
