Really glad to see a lemmy community for one of my favorite games. This was the onus for me to finally make an account here. It's exciting to get in on the ground floor for a new community. Looking forward to it.

I guess, I'll start with the story of my first foray into playing a traitor character(mycus). He wasn't much for writing and didn't really get along with people. Then the cataclysm happened and he found himself wandering. He came across a curious fungal structure with some berries near it. He was hungry, so he partook. Then, overnight he knew what he had to do. He had to find more. (I thought it would take longer to find the rest, but in a bit of an anticlimax I found both a bloom and a tower right in either side of a small city. Huh.) After that, our guide was complete. We decided to wait in an old radio tower for some time until our local guide has become better adapted. From there we paid a visit to the evac center. They don't know it yet, but we are going to work well together. The mycus must grow. (Yeah, I thought the run would last longer, so I turned off the no-fungl-spread mod and covered the evac center in spores. Heheh!)

Later folks.

I dunno, was playing cdda for a long time now, but somehow going fungal always felt unappealing to me...

I agree, it is. I just hadn't in a while and wanted to try it out. The mucus need some love.

Currently playing in a world I would consider near perfect start for me.

Started on a golf course that was right next to the evac center, found a nice cabin near triffid grove that convienently had a crater nearby if I was overwhelmed to dump heat.

Has two small towns that I've cleared that both had dojos with good books - currently have aikido, bojustu, judo, kickboxing, krav maga and pankration.

Finally found some npcs and now made camp in a firestation that one of the small towns have ( which has a gun store next door also has a home improvement store across the road)

There is a drive in theatre with plenty of solar cars, a mansion, steel mill and mall relatively close too.

Hub01 is a bit a mission to get to, but has fire lookout towers nearby and is near both a lab entrance and a research facility

Only thing is there is quite a few mycus towers about

Same here, I was real happy to see this community too! CDDA is an absolutely incredible game, it's a privilege to say the least to be able to enjoy it for free.
