not real happy to hear that Claridge is involved, but not surprised either.

We'll see. Hopefully Sens fans come out of this with a team, not really optimistic about a great outcome for fans or the city, everything touched by developers in this town turns to shit.

It has to be better than Melnyk though right? Right?

I'm more talking in the vein of actually being able to make decisions in the off season. Not even sure if this is a good deal for the Sens or not, but having an owner is important before free agency I imagine.

But where does the Dogg fit into all this?

I saw no mention of Ryan Reynolds, either.

Reynolds had previously stated that he'd only be involved if it was through his group, at least as far as being on the ownership team.

Would love to see Snoop involved in some capacity. I think he'd be great for marketing to new audiences. I think he'd bring a level of new enthusiasm and modern approaches to grow the fan base, and engage with fans.

I get that it might not work with original 6 teams, who have a more classic, old school brand. But newer teams have nothing to lose by embracing change and branding themself according to the times.

I don't think Snoop had any real interest in growing the game in Ottawa though. He only ever talked about LA... it was strange and turned off most Ottawa folks.

Yeah. I think Snoop is a great ambassador for the game and it would be great for the sport if the NHL decided to work with him more. Having him as a part of Sparks' bid was never going to be enough to make them the right choice for the Sens though.

I saw this on a little biography thing of him on a business site:

With a passion for hockey, Michael has been involved with the Hamilton Bulldogs since 2003, first as a co-owner, then sole owner. In 2009, he purchased a share of the 24-time Stanley Cup Champion Montreal Canadiens, Bell Centre and Gillett Entertainment Group (now called evenko) as part of a group headed by Geoff Molson. He stands in as alternate governor for the Habs.

Is that old news? Would that be any sort of conflict?

Part of the deal is that he has to sell his 10% stake in the Canadians. So that will remove any sort of conflict that may occur.
