What was everyone's first book set in the Cosmere? I started with The Way of Kings shortly after it was released, but immediately gobbled up everything else.

Way of the King is going to my first official cosmere book once I finish rereading Mistborn. Halfway through book 2!

What? Then it sounds like Mistborn is your first official Cosmere book?

[–] HopeKiller 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yep, I misspoke as I view Cosmere and Mistborn as separate even though I know they are all connected. I haven't read anything past the Mistborn books so I have very limited understanding of things beyond those books so it's hard to wrap my head around the concept which is why I mentally view them as separate things. After this re-read I'm going to to fully dive into the Cosmere and I recall Way of the King as the best introduction to the larger scope of his fantasy world.

I'm excited for your journey, enjoy.

I personally recommend Warbreaker before Way of Kings. Because having Warbreaker under your belt before Stormlight 2 will definitely enable you to enjoy the story more, and you won't want to stop to read it after Way of Kings

Thank you! Warbreaker it is then! I'll start with Warbreaker then Way of the King. I'm also excited as well! I forgot how much I loved the Mistborn books, so I can't wait to start his other works.

Elantris.

A few years later Mistborn.

Then Warbreaker, and at some point Stormlight. Only then I noticed the underlying scheme that is cosmere.

And then I was quite disappointed that the Rithmasist was not part of the Cosmere. I really hope for another book in that story line.

Elantris is wonderful. I know it isn't as well written as his later works, but something about that story fascinates me. Maybe because the magic is basically programming.

My first book was way of kings started about 3 months ago almost done with series so now I'm going to have to do the rest probably after doing some none fantasy for a minute

I think I started in the common Mistborn trap. Absolutely loved Sanderson ever since.

Same. But first came to find his work in the end of the Wheel of Time, and a friend who'd read Mistborn put me onto his own works.

mine was the final empire. its still probably my favourite novel in the cosmere because of how directly the plot focuses on overthrowing the final empire, unlike all the other books, that more or less that the current state of their worlds for granted

The Way of kings as well

I started with The Way of Kings and it took me almost a year to get through. Once I finished it, I was sucked in and quickly finished the rest of the books in the Cosmere.

The way of kings on audio book.

I read all of the Cytonic books thinking it was Cosmere, and then I was initially disappointed when I found out that it wasn't and that the Cosmere was mostly fantasy and not sci-fi.

Then I read Mistborn, then I read all of it very quickly. I'm now peak obsession

Give it time. The Sci-Fi elements are already starting to show up. Mistborn era 3 is going to be wild.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Oh absolutely, now that I know we're building up to the sci-fi it's even sweeter
