Pretty heavy losses for the Russians.
I've speculated here before that this winter may become very different from last year. Where things were relatively calm, because Russia was busy building defenses, and Ukraine prepared for the spring offensive, in the hope that western equipment they waited for would help it become successful.
But Zelenskyj later said the delay was a mistake, and the Russians are desperately trying to secure some sort of victory for Putin.
Maybe Putin wants it for the election, which I kind of doubt, since it rigged anyway. Maybe Putin demands victories because he is a megalomaniac, that believes he can force his will to become reality? Whatever it is, it looks like the Russians will not wait calmly until after the election.
We can only hope that Putin's insanity will help Ukraine win.

Putin has to keep Western support down and the best way of doing that is to have victories and denying Ukraine victories. It currently looks like the US is lowering support for Ukraine a lot. So that is helpfull. If Trump wins, that support is gone. From a European point of view Spain and Italy are not sending much support these days, the Netherlands who were a large supported just had a Putin puppet win a large number of seats and Hungary is blocking EU aid right now as well. Without that aid Ukraine is going to loose the war. Maybe it is enough for him to break throu later.

Yes aid to Ukraine is definitely not going well currently. A few countries continue to support Ukraine, but AFAIK military aid is now only a tenth of what it was a year ago.
