Is there an actual support for the Russian state, or is it propaganda to counter the pro-western propaganda?

I'm not very educated on this topic, so I come from a place of genuine curiosity. It just seems to me that many people here are pro Russia and anti Ukraine, and if that's the case, I would like to understand why.

In my eyes, the conflict in Ukraine bears no resemblance of class war. Of course I know of the nazi infested military groups sponsored by the Ukrainian government stationed in eastern Ukraine to kill the separatist movement. But I'm hesitant to trust any capitalist government to fight for actual people and their rights. This scepticism of course include the Russian state.

Please understand that this is my current understanding of the situation, and I struggle to get a better understanding of it. Mainstream media isn't doing me any favors in that regard, so I hope some of you guys are more educated in this topic than I am, and can point me to articles and news that depict this through a marxist lens.

Love and solidarity

Thanks! Great thread about the topic

That thread is the first I’ve seen that looks at this as a conflict in a larger NATO Russia war, rather than purely Russia Ukraine. Good perspective shift

Just to drive the point home, the fact that the conflict is close to 18 months old now and this is the first time you're seeing a framing of NATO v Russia (and really USA v Russia through NATO via Ukraine as proxy) means that your news sources are incredibly skewed towards US war propaganda.

I am not anti Ukraine, i am anti-NATO and anti Nazi. I'm pro-Russia because i am pro-Ukraine. I want to see the people of Ukraine liberated, peaceful and prospering and this can only happen if NATO is expelled out of Ukraine along with NATO's proxy fascist junta puppet regime in Kiev.

Right now only Russia's military intervention can achieve that.

Anti-fascist, anti-imperialist struggle is a manifestation of class war. The defeat of imperialism and fascism even by a bourgeois state still advances the cause for the global liberation of the working class. A blow to US hegemony anywhere is a victory for workers everywhere.

My dad, who is QAnon and a huge conspiracy theorist, is pro-russia despite my mom being Ukrainian
