I'd prefer to have the customizing options of the taskbar back like in Windows 10. Like small symbols / thin taskbar and a true "never group". I know there are some mods but they seem to cause issues from time to time as well.

Huh, when was the last time notepad got an update? It has seemed so outdated every time I've used windows. I wonder if it will get syntax highlighting as well soon that would be nice

While I have Notepad++ installed on my machine and appeciate its features for many use cases, I still use the plain notepad often to order thoughts, get rid of formatting etc.

Also I sometimes prefer the very slim menu etc. Notepad++ I typically use in fullscreen but if I work with a dozen of Windows in parallel, Notepad saves a lot of screen space.

I hate everything they have done to it. Give me back the old notepad that doesn't close all of my other notepad windows when I close one, shows me the document I just tried to open instead of hiding it in a tab in some other already opened window, and didn't reopen 50 other goddamn documents when opening just one.

As far as I know the Windows editor is just a single / stand-alone executable. If you copy notepad.exe from C:\Windows\system32 from Windows 10 I would expect it to work just fine.
