Ive been loving this game. Its a card game with lots of depth to the optimization and some RNG but its not overly punishing. If youre looking for a fun casual game try it out! Its less than $10 on sale right now.

Once you're finished up with it, I really recommend Monster Train. Slay the Spire is great, but I never finished it 100%. Monster Train I still go back to randomly even after putting 100+ hours into it. The game actively encourages you to try and break it, finding the right combination of cards and artifacts to truly be OP. I think it would even be impossible to beat most of the difficulties if you don't lean into that.

It's funny, I feel the same way just reversed. Really liked both, but StS is a forever game for me and I think it's the game I own on the most platforms (PC, switch, and android)

If you like slay the spire I'd recommend playing inscryption as well. It's very similar but focuses more on combining cards to break the game.

Bought both around the same time awhile back and absolutely love each one. Inscription feels more involved, but Slay the Spire has some really fun mods. I would also recommend both.

It's also great as a phone or tablet game

Works great on my Surface. Only thing is you have to keep the keyboard attached for it to work. But you can flip it back and still play with just the touchscreen.

I've poured over 1000 hours into Spire. It has consumed my life. Help me.

The vanilla game is amazing enough as is, but once you've mastered A20H with all four characters do check out the thriving mod scene. My favorites:

Characters:
The Packmaster - If you play just one mod character, make it this one. Absolutely top notch collab.
The Adventurer
The Thorton
The Shaman
The Bladedancer
The Aquatic
The Avocado
Robot Space Explorer

Gameplay/content addons:
Chimera Cards
Spire Locations
Reliquary
One Hundred Relics
Wandering Minibosses
Battle Towers

QoL/misc:
Minty Spire
Bestiary
Googly Eyes

The spire sleeps, and so shall I.

I've sunk so many hours into Slay the Spire, such a good game.

I think at this point it's a "comfort game" for me that I go back to occasionally if I don't feel like playing anything new or am having a bad day.

I like the game but I’m terrible at it

I watch Baalalord stream it on twitch, and that has massively helped my game play. I'm now on ascension lvl 10 on ironclad, and 6 on the other characters. I used to never be able to beat a run.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Awesome thanks for the advice!

[–] damirK 3 points 1 year ago

It is also coming to Apple Arcade on July 7th!

I used to play hearthstone but needed to delete it to get out of the loot cycle. This was a healthier replacement and can be played offline.

Slay the Spire is awesome, but I have really struggled with the mobile port of the game. Do you play it on mobile? What do you play it on? I've played it on the Switch and the game was great, but when I tried playing it on my android I could barely control the cards.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I only played on a really low end laptop I'm afraid.

Bought it a long time ago, beat it once (as in l reached one of the final bosses and defeated him), then totally forgot about it. Might replay it now that you've reminded me of it. Thanks!

great game, well worth beating it with the different characters

[–] krowmada 2 points 1 year ago

it's one of my fave of all time. works great on mobile too

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Slay the Spire is great. My favorite deckbuilder and if you ever get bored there is a huge modding community

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I wanted to get this game on my phone but apparently it hasn't been updated in a while and isn't supported on newer versions of Android.

My roommate recommended Dawncaster though, and I've sunk just too many hours into it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It seems like a great game but I just cAnt get into it :( maybe the style or gameplay isn't for me, idk

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's quite addictive and a real bang for the buck at 66% off! Here's a link.

It's even one of those rare games that works well on touchscreen-screens for Windows, and is also a real treat to play on the Steam Deck.

I'm over 50 years old and have been playing video games since before the atari 2600 and Slay the Spire is in my top 5 games of all time, but honestly probably top 3.

If any of Rouge like, deck building, dungeon crawler do anything for you I highly recommend you pick it up.

And while there are some incredible mods for the game, if you are into grinding super hard content there are 1000s of hours in the base game.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Have close to 500 hours into it. The daily mod run makes everyday a new game. Would highly recommend.

I love slay the spire!
Have recently been looking for games with a similar experience/core gameplay and came across Vault of the Void. I can really recommend that game of anyone is looking for something kind of similar to Slay the Spire. Although I'd say it's a bit more relaxed and definitely more colourful.

Monster Train is also a really, really enjoyable deck-building rogue-like. Not sure if I like it more than StS, but it's awfully close. I ended up getting it for iPad and it's great to just pop out and play whenever.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm really enjoying Wildfrost. Sort if similar to monster train. It's cute and insanely hard and punishing. Unfortunately it's only for pc and switch currently.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Thank you both @Mirrorgiraffe and @buffaloseven ! I'll check those games out. :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I recommend it as well. I have recently been playing Across The Obelisk, it's like STS on steroids, great fun!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Make sure to try out the Kill la Kill mod for it, it is excellent

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Can't wait for my Kickstarter version of this to come out
