My 14 year old brother is really aggressive at times but it is visible that all of his aggression come from how hyperactive he is, and impulsive. He always wants things done immediately, and his aggression has been seriously problematic for all of us. He can't sit still for once and has to be stimulated, he likes it through sports, but neither me, my Dad/Mom or the friends he plays with can be available for his fun 24/7

His therapist told how it is CD and how it may have been childhood ADHD which went unmanaged, but from the lens of a therapist at the clinic, she can't diagnose it with ADHD.

He has calmed down since the last few days, but the aggression was enough to get admitted. He is on anxiolytes and antipsychotics, and I just want to know what steps we can take or resources that will make it better for him to manage his hyperactivity and impulsivity?

I don't know what country you are in but I would go looking for a physiatrist or mental health nurse practitioner to seek diagnosis.

It sounds more complex than just ADHD (could be bipolar, borderline, schizophrenia, etc.). He will need to adjust his goals and try different physical activities. He will need to have a medical regimen and follow it to the t. As a family, you will need a support circle. You will burn out very fast, so family therapy is key.

Hi, thanku for your reply, I think you mean psychiatrist? if yes, the type of medicines he is taking are prescribed by his psychiatrist, which is what I meant by doctor, and mental health nurse? I'm not sure a term like that is prevalant in India? Also, is diagnosis even possible? Isn't 14-15 considered pretty late for one? I appreciate all help

If the meds aren't helping then they're wrong. Btw. Why is he on an anxiolytic? Sounds like they've diagnosed him with something else?
