I wasn't following builds for sorcerer. Just going with the flow.

I mainly use chain lightning, on 28 level with max mana 119. After 4 strikes, I'm out of mana. Just recently, I started using crackling energy with mana restore upon pickup. I feel like I could improve somewhere.

Any tips that doesn't involve looking at complete builds? Question aside, does diablo have a tool for showing your current char?

Update: Thank you for the tip! I'm looking after missing aspects and better gear with mana regeneration and cost reduction. In the meantime, I switched to ice. Opening with Blizzard then Frozen Orb with Frost Bolt support. Occasionally Frost Nova and Ice Armor if the group is really aggressive.

I think resource issues are a problem for most classes until you hit level 70ish. It seems that most builds start to really get fun from 70-80 range.

Pick up Recharging Aspect from the Zenith dungeon in Fractured Peaks. Use Frost Bolt with Glinting Frost Bolt as your Basic with Frost Nova with Mystical Frost Nova to increase mana regen and decrease the number of casts needed to clear a pack. Add the Fireball Enhancement for more group damage.

Mystical Frost Nova gives Vulnerable and Freezes over a larger area than Flame Shield's burn aura, which lets you generate mana from Frost Bolt more easily than Fire Bolt.

Open with Frost Nova then cast Frost Bolt, then Chain Lightning and alternate between casts of FB and CL to regen a bit of mana between CL casts.

Also get the Aspect of Efficiency from Domhainne Tunnels in Scosglen

There’s also an aspect that gives you mana every time you pop a cooldown. I have ice shards and five cooldowns. Even then it runs out of gas sometimes. Apparently there are paragon boards that give mana regen as well as mana cost reduction, but that’s gonna take 10-20 levels worth of paragon points to pull off.

Having more max mana doesn't do too much to be honest, like others said, try to get the 2 aspects that helps with mana, one is the Recharging Aspect another is the one that gives you mana when you pop cool down, they will help. Then just try to stack resource reduction and cool down reduction.

Wish I could say it gets better. I’m now level 50 and still have mana issues. Start off by getting a single point into the fire arrow basic attack, and make it an enchantment (applies a burning effect to all enemies) and then there is a skill later on that has a mana regen effect on burning enemies. Then you will just need to supplement your damage with more basic attacks. I like arc lash

Unfortunately CL builds are very mana hungry. The only way I was able to level up (currently 65 and just switched to arc lash, btw) was using the aspect that gives you mana back if CL hits yourself and the aspect that can proc additional chain lightnings. The first one really only works on single targets so bosses were easy to take down but I had issues with crowds unless I popped unstable currents.
