What are scoops?
Usually my response would be to google it but googling leads nowhere. Results are scoop as in that type of spoon and scoops in journalism. And you know what? Googlign "scoops f1" leads to F1 news sites features the lastest scoops about F1. π€¬π€¬π€¬
Maybe an air scoop? Not entirely sure what that will do for the drivers as they are already exposed to air anywayβ¦
You'll see bonnet scoops and roof scoops on certain cars. They grab air and direct it wherever.
They'll probably end up looking similar to the f-duct concept.
I'm assuming it means they can flair out the bodywork around the engine cooling vents to stick out somewhat more so they can get more air in for cooling?
It's for driver cooling, so it will be an air scoop somewhere on the nose.
Yeah the 2026 cars are going to be a shitshow.
Yeah the 2026 cars are going to be a shitshow.
Why? I mean no front axle recuperation is stupid but other than that?
Because the new bad, old good
I'm really hoping they change that, without the MGU-H it seems you'd wanna recover energy as much as possible, and there's plenty in the front axle to grab. I don't really get it, cost savings?
German media claimed the existing PU manufacturers were afraid of Audi and fought. The media gave no arguments why Audi would have an edge, though...
That and front axle recuperation requires motors on the front axle, which I guess they don't want to do not to upset the RWD purists.
Good job scoops are only for extreme heat, hopefully they remember to put that in the rules. Also hope they limit blocking the duct and tightly define the outflow as it'll be a gold mine for performance improvement otherwise.
Will also be interesting how they will enforce no work on the 2026 car, you can't stop people thinking about it or talking about it, lol
What's the definition of extreme heat? Where and how are temps measured? How much notice do teams get that they're allowed? What is the definition of a scoop?
Seems like that rule is going to be a mess unless they really nail the fine print.
