Hi. I lurked on turntables for a long time as well.

Happy to help build up the community here. I’m by no means an expert on anything though, just an enthusiastic amateur.

I run a Fluance RT85 in my living room and a U-Turn Orbit in my bedroom (I backed them on kickstarter). Both of them run Nagaoka MP-110s.

I had a pair of SL-1200s 20 years ago so I understand the love of a Technics deck. I gave them to my little cousin who wanted to try being a DJ. Lol.

You should find out if your cousin has any mixes you can post.

Lol. She sold the decks a while back to buy her first car. I was a little pissed when I found out, but she was still pretty much a kid at the time.

I was also like “how could you buy a car?” I had no awareness of how much people were willing to pay for 1200s when they got discontinued. She sold them at the peak of their value, so I guess that’s a good thing.

Howdy! I had a Technics SL 1300 for 20+ years as I found it at a flea market for 15 bucks. I have since evolved to the Audio Technica AT-LP2022. I should note I have not gotten rid of the 1300 but it will need a rewiring soon.

It’s great there are decent modern options. For a few years, it seemed turntable manufacturing might cease completely.

During Covid I picked up a complete pioneer system for £55 off eBay. The jewel in the crown is the very nice PL512X that was part of the system. After a clean up, belt change and a little lubrication maintenance (new stylus as well) she runs like a dream.

Yo. Semi-Regular of /r/turntables.

Current turntable is a Denon DP-45F. As far as turntables go it's pretty hard to beat, though I do have a soft spot for the silver/woodgrain Pioneer PL-530.

[–] maychill 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah, the PL-530 is so pretty I had to use it as the banner in this community.

And your Denon has the atomic space age style I like.

Hi!

I mostly lurked in r/turntables but I learned so much.

My main turntable is a Technics SL-1500C that I got at an incredible because of a post on r/turntables about a Best Buy sale. Because of seeing how great a modern-made turntable can be, I fantasize about Technics releasing a new linear tracking player.

I have no goo reason for having it, but my dream is an SL-1210G.
