We seriously need to get spineless rats unwilling to stand up for anything out of congress and replace them with people actually willing to do anything other than hand the democrats the keys to making the country worse.

Maybe don’t shut down the government every couple years? Is that an unpopular idea? If we could go back to once per decade for a day, I’d be happy.

I'd take a government shutdown over a shitty spending bill every year

Buddy… we’re going to get both.

Yeah, because spineless cowards like McCarthy and his ilk refuse to stand up for anything

Please tell the class what meaningful governance the republicans have done in the last 20 years.

I'm part of "the country" and am glad the government didn't shut down last night.

The actual headline here says "House Speaker McCarthy faces ouster threat for avoiding shutdown." Notice where it says "threat," because as usual the "hardliners" are all talk and no action. They threaten and threaten but do jack shit because they know vacating his speakership would probably result in them being cut out of the process entirely.

He stood up against the worst of his party. If nothing else, that is respectable. I'm sure this cost him the speakership, but he's certainly changed my opinion of him.
