LONDON (AP) — Former British Prime Minister David Cameron made a shock return to high office on Monday, becoming foreign secretary in a major shakeup of the Conservative government that also saw the firing of divisive Home Secretary Suella Braverman.

Cameron, who led the government between 2010 and 2016, was appointed by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in a Cabinet shuffle in which he sacked Braverman, a divisive figure who drew anger for accusing police of being too lenient with pro-Palestinian protesters.

She was replaced by James Cleverly, who had been foreign secretary.

What does shock return mean? Are you not supposed to give work to people who are already around?

He had retired into private pig-fucking. For a PM to come back as a lesser minister under someone else, is quite a comedown.

  1. It's fairly unusual for former Prime Ministers to return to govt as ministers.

  2. Most ministers are MPs and so we don't typically think of members of the Lords (an unelected second chamber) as a candidate for office, especially not one of the major offices.

  3. He called the Brexit referendum, as a Remainer. So absolutely everyone despises him.
