Not sure how to link or crosspost yet, im a Rexxitor, but I built this from scratch, including the the wall framing, drywall, cusom mortar shower pan, and the hardwood floor insert. It was 98% complete here.

Rexxitor here as well. Looks great! I’ve never seen hardware floor as an insert. Can you describe the installation? Is it floating? Do you have any process pics? Thanks!

The pics here show a little bit of how i made it. Its made from hardwood 1x2s with 4 runners longways on the underside. The top slats are screwed from the bottom, through the runners and everything has multiple coats of polycrylic. The runners are shaped to the pan slope and have multiple points of contact, but the whole thing doesnt lay on the shower pan so it doesnt block water from getting to the drain. Also, the shower pan has a 2 inch lip all the way around to support the sides of the waking surface.

Its an experiment at this point. Hopefully it holds up because it was a pain in the ass.

Very cool. I would be paranoid and lift it up to dry after every shower lol. I love the idea, and I’d love to see what the shower looked like prior to installation

I sealed every piece individually before assembly, glued all the joints and put 2 coats of sealer after assembly, with glue in every screw hole. Im pretty confident in it, but we will see. Ask me in a year and ill let you know how it held up.

Fantastic job. I happen to be doing the same thing ATM.
