The Esken Valley is a remote region of the kingdom of Phorlonde. It owes its prosperity not only to its mines, but also to the trade in magical artifacts from the wilds of the north. The region's governing body, the Silver Council, struggles to curb the rivalries between its members and the ambitions of guilds and merchant houses.
While the powerful are at each other's throats, rumors are rife among the humble. Some worry about wyvern attacks, others speak of the misdeeds of the mysterious Outfitter, and still others whisper that some nobleman or other is secretly worshipping an evil deity...
