Advertising Partners. We may also share personal information with third parties who we partner with for advertising campaigns or that collect information about your activity on the Services for the purposes described in the "Interest-Based Advertising" section above.

It's a paid service, wtf is this BS

Their final reply:

I wanted to reach out as a followup to your earlier request. I spoke with some members of our product team, and it would actually appear as though we don't currently support users opting out of that particular clause in our terms of service. I also wanted to let you know that we don’t currently share user info with third parties for advertising, and as far as I can tell, we have no roadmapped plans for doing so in the future.

It says I can opt out, but why is it in there in the first place? I don't see any setting to opt out either, have to write them an email. How would I know if it got toggled on again?

Really odd for a paid service trying to get away from YouTube which gets its revenue through ads

Use PeerTube, or NewPipe. They're free, open source, and NewPipe even allows you to watch YouTube videos.

I'm a heavy NewPipe user. I wanted to support creators and also help build something else.

I'm just disappointed to see this clause after they complained about the YT algorithm which is a direct result of introducing ads

Yeah that's bullshit. You said you can opt-out. Do you know how? I can't find anything in the settings.

I've aent an email. Had to do something skmilar last time. Will update here in a couple of days when they answer (I clicked the Contact Us button at the bottom) [email protected]

I saw tbe privacy policy mentioning I can opt out for this:

What I quoted mentions "Interest-based advertising" which has:

You can learn more about your choices for limiting interest-based advertising in the "Your Choices" section below.

The section:

Your Choices

You have choices regarding your personal information, such as canceling your subscription, unsubscribing from marketing emails, and blocking third-party cookies (including for interest-based advertising).

Modifications to Your Personal Information. We rely on you to update and correct the personal information contained in your account. Note that we may keep historical information in our backup files as permitted by law. If our Platform does not permit you to update or correct certain personal information, please contact us as described below.

Delete Your Account. If you wish to delete your account with us, you may do so by logging into your account and selecting "Delete account".

Marketing Emails. You may choose to provide us with your email address for the purpose of allowing us to send newsletters, surveys, offers, and other promotional materials. You can stop receiving marketing emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in the emails or by updating your preferences in your account. If you decide not to receive marketing emails, we may still send you service-related communications, such as those about your account, to fulfill orders for offers you have requested, or deliver notifications directly to you through our Platform.

Mobile Application Push Notifications. Upon download of the mobile application, you were provided the option to opt-in to receiving notifications that may include alerts, sounds, and icon badges. Push notifications can be configured in settings on your mobile device.

Cookies. Most browsers let you remove and/or stop accepting cookies from the websites you visit. To do this, follow the instructions in your browser's settings. Many browsers accept cookies by default until you change your settings. If you do not accept cookies, however, you may not be able to use all functionality of the Services and our Website may not work properly. For more information about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set on your browser and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

Analytics. The Nebula Store uses Google Analytics to help us analyze how the Website is being accessed and used. You can learn more about Google Analytics cookies by clicking here and about how Google protects your data by clicking here. To opt-out of Google Analytics, you can download and install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available here.

Advertising Choices. You can limit the use of your information for interest-based advertising by blocking third-party cookies in your browser settings, using browser plug-ins/extensions, and/or using your mobile device settings to limit the use of the advertising ID associated with our mobile device. You can also opt out of interest-based ads from companies participating in the following industry opt-out programs by visiting the linked websites: the Network Advertising Initiative (http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (https://optout.aboutads.info). Users of our Mobile Application may opt out of receiving targeted advertising in through participating members of the Digital Advertising Alliance by installing the AppChoices mobile app, available here, and selecting the user's choices. Some of the companies we work with may offer their own opt-out mechanisms.

Many of the opt-out preferences described in this section must be set on each device and/or browser for which you want them to apply. Please note that some of the advertising companies we work with may not participate in the opt-out mechanisms described above, so even after opting-out, you may still receive interest-based advertisements from other companies. If you opt-out of interest-based advertisements, you will still see advertisements online but they may be less relevant to you.

Do Not Track. Some browsers may be configured to send "Do Not Track" signals to online services that you visit. The Website does not respond to "Do Not Track" or similar signals. To find out more about "Do Not Track," please visit http://www.allaboutdnt.com.

Seems worse than I thought. I'm guessing it's asking them + blocking stuff through the browser. But don't know what's shared internally.

Rossman just released a video about a new way of watching videos so maybe that'll save us (probably not)? Still haven't watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DePDzfyWkw

It's just the audacity to make even more instead of pricing it with sustainability in mind
