It could be people you've blocked or people that your instance has defederated from, so you won't be able to see any comments from Lemmygrad for example.

lol now i see: if a language is not set in my lemmy instance settings (only availabe from web), then lemmy hides the messages that are not set for me. Since it was on undetermined (default), all english posts are hidden... This is really weird, and nonsense, this kind of problems can discourage new lemmy users.
Oh, it should have all languages on by default. There might've been a problem with something changing your settings.
