Until inflation and stagnant wages are addressed, I don't imagine a ton of people will approve since their quality of life is trickling away.

Edit: I specifically meant approve of the cabinet in general. I know they approve of the move as the article states.

Unification Church has ruined a large amount of Japanese lives... everyone's sad about Shinzo Abe getting assassinated, until they learn why the guy shot him and what awful thing Shinzo Abe has supported/represented, then it's pretty much the opposite. Abe's approval absolutely collapsed soon after his assassination, because it kind of exposed to the greater populace that he was a supporter of the Unification Church, the same church that destroyed the assassin's family.

You can't deny, after that happening, that the Unification Church isn't a massive issue... it's generally hated by those that haven't been brainwashed into going into debt and sacrificing their family for it. It's not a religion, it's a criminal ring that extorts their victims for all they have.

Plus those other issues take a lot longer and are a lot harder for individual politicians to actually successfully get passed than this one. Japan is extremely politically corrupt & conservative, much MUCH moreso than the US, UK, and similar countries, so you don't exactly get laws that will reform the system in a good way...
