As someone born in the Netherlands I am really happy to see more cycle lanes being built across NZ. Cycling for short distances is so much better than taking the car. I hope more people start to cycle. Despite the increasing infra in Lower Hutt I still see only a couple of cyclists on my commute and hundreds of cars.

I’m so happy they didn’t go for the watered down proposal. This project doesn’t affect me at all but the low cost option would have been more business as usual that didn’t actually solve anything.

I hope this is a sign that the Board is going to start making tough decisions instead of projects being constantly sent back down the chain to sit in limbo for years.

The more places we can cycle off the road, the better.
