I've been thinking about Solarpunk spiritualities/philosophies. Not gonna use the word religion here to avoid the negative connotations of that.

I've been practicing druidism way before I ever discovered solarpunk, and I feel like the two are very compatible with each other. Love of nature, do no harm to others, fluid and evolving, open to interpretation.

Any other ideas about already existing spiritual philosophies that are compatible with solarpunk?

I would love if spirituality was a really private thing - so not really the first thing a person blurts out about themselves but something you practice in the privacy of your own home, or with a small group of people depending on preference. Like it happens already in a lot of cities, but with less fanaticism and every sort of belief just existing next to each other. Maybe people just explain away the existence of different beliefs and gods by some fancy Physics concept and/or just use their spirituality for personal comfort, but it definitely ceases to be a life-and-death-identity thing, and we do not fall back into centralized or organized religion of any kind.

What I do as animist in the privacy of myself and around here: Animism means for me that learning how to handle responsible reciprocity shouldn't just happen between humans, but all living things. I find this philosophy all over solarpunk (there's another post in here about talking to animals, for example). So my spirituality is about right relation, and balance, and trying to respect and notice the non-human life around me. Accept that we are not the best species ever, crown of creation, or similar bollocks, just one of many. So it's not about scoring the big score (aka Heaven), but getting along, and getting better at getting along, and getting better at getting along .....

Sure does. Agree wholeheartedly

And look how cool it is that we have already three spiritual communities on the solarpunk instance (or more? I haven't really looked?) - like tiny temples with little bits of worship and lore in them.

I really think the book Always Coming Home by Ursula Le Guin is very good on this subject, they have a sort of metaphorical religion created themselves, with many of the good community building aspects on religion.

I personally think there is much good to learn from the ways of Buddhism and Daoism, both their core ideas and some of the practice.

Atheopaganism is what resonates with me- all of the ritual and "spicy psychology" as we call it with none of the supernaturalism.

Basically, think of ritual but focused on the participants' state of mind target than any belief in or expectation of any external / supernatural results. Intentionality, focus, change in perspective, mental / emotional cues, etc.

Sounds like good common-sense psychology to me. Is it like a kind of self-ritual, like when you want to change something about yourself and 'mark' the change with a ritual?
