This is a depressing and ominous read. To see that the approach conservatives were taking over 60 years ago to keep control over their kids is driving this loss of knowledge... and that a mother would think her son committed suicide because he didn't want to do homework? Disgusting.

I had to skim the second half because it just made me sad. It'll be too late by the time they realize that they themselves are what they're afraid of.

Like, they "protect" their kids by pretending lgbt doesn't exist, as if that ever fucking works in the first place. They're still gay, bi, trans, but without home support.. formative years get pretty fucking grim.

They just don't even listen to their own kids obviously, they think they have this dark evil basement and it's clearly not. And they wonder why kids are on their phones all the time as if their home life has anything of value to offer these kids.
