Honestly the most impactful piece of media in my life. Influenced my fashion sense, my career path, and my personal politics.

Did you end up studying computer science or cyber security?

Sadly Hackers didn't resonate with me until AFTER I got my comp sci degree but I love it. My favourite movie.

It’s never too late.

I thought the server tech/visualization they used in the movie is kinda cheesy, but the rebellious attitude and culture influenced me more than anything back then. And the soundtrack is awesome

It did also get me interested into hacking and computers though, and I ended up getting a networking degree and using none of that knowledge because I ended up becoming a software developer.

And I also gained a huge crush on Angelina Jolie from that movie

The only thing I don't like about hackers is Angelina Jolies odd british voice over line

"I hope you don't screw like you type"

Other than that - the style, the music, the cheesy vfx, the plot - it just grabbed me all those 25 years ago and it never let go. I didn't end up going into the tech field, pulled more of an SLC Punk on that front... but it did get me into computers for sure.

Also +1 for big time crush.
