I wanted to thank everyone that responded to my last post. Everyone gave good advice, and hearing that everyone hit a wall they had to just grind through helped a lot.

Took my sorceress and mixed things up. Didn’t focus on one element, and tried to match attributes in the skill tree instead of elements. Still have hydra as my main focus, but I rely very heavily on chain lighting and frost nova. I was actually able to finish act II.

Again, thank you all for the awesome words. You guys a super swell!

Good work! I find it fun to change up my build and try something different. I'm almost sad now that I'm at WT4/Torment difficulty and I'm pretty much fixed in my build. About the only thing that will change will be when I feel like I have enough X so reassign passives from X generation to something else.

I am kinda feeling the same way with my build too and I am only at WT3, trying to beat the T4 capstone. On one hand, I am seriously capped in terms of the loot that's dropping from the Tier 20 nightmare dungeons. I've been getting garbage legendaries and the few uniques that drop aren't all that great. I've gotten 3 of the same Frostburn gloves and the only other unique that I have is Mother's Ring from Lilith.

On the other hand, I hate the fact that you can only imprint aspects once. I am heavily dependent on 2 Frost Nova charges and I haven't seen another piece of loot with that aspect yet so I am stuck with the same pair of pants that I've imprinted it on.

I am doing more than enough damage for my level, but I am too squishy against Elias's spells in the capstone fight, so I am pretty sure I just need to up my defense at the expense of some of the flashy damage I've been doing with my Ice Shard build. Still, I find it annoying that each tier is capped so hard.

My experience with the capstone was that the dungeon itself was pretty easy but Elias was a one-shot killing machine. It took me about 7 tries to kill him, basically I just learned all his moves and how to dodge them and kept at it until I got a good run at him.

Yeah, I just beat capstone yesterday and pretty much had the same impression as you. Elias's attack damage is crazy compared to the rest of the mobs in the dungeon, except maybe for those shouts from the elite...barbarians (forgot what they were called)?

I ended up just doing a few reknown completions for the paragon points and dipped a whole bunch of them into extra maximum life. After that I could tank Elias's hits just fine.

Thank you. I’m a creature of habit, but this game does push you to change things up as you roam around and level up. I’m looking forward to finally finishing the campaign.

Hell yeah! Good work on getting past the wall. Making things vulnerable is super key to dealing good damage in Diablo IV so make sure you concentrate on those, especially as a sorc.

If frost nova is your jam, highly recommend you seek out the aspect that gives you two frost nova charges. It might put you off at first due to the 30% increase in cooldown per charge, but it's immediately made up by the fact that the 2 charges give you 2 cooldown timers that overlap, so you'll be able to put down frost nova way more frequently. Also, invest into the Elemental Attunement passive so that your lucky hits have a chance to reset your cooldowns. With my ice shards build, I have a really high chance of resetting my frost nova, so I am basically applying Frost Nova once every 5 seconds on average.

Also, another thing to note is that hydra will not be as good endgame, so don't heavily skew your builds towards it because it will get outdated. It will be less effective as a damage dealer and become more of a means to apply Burning. It's great for < lvl 50 though.

The news about hydra in the end game makes me sad. In D3 I loved just throwing two of my hydras in a room before I opened the door and watch them clear the room and I mop up the elite. Guess I’ll have to focus on zapping people after I freeze them.
