Hi,

Does anyone use any movie recommendations site? Is there a good one that doesn't recommend always the mainstream movies?

Have a look at Letterboxd and check out the lists.

I really like taste.io! You rate movies on a scale of 1-4 (Awful, Meg, Good, Great) and it recommends you similar movies

I wasn't sure if that scale was referring to the movie Meg or the family guy character Meg.

I don't have an answer, OP, but it dawns on me they someone could use BookWyrm to start one.

I have been using criticker.com for 15 years now. It is not flashy but their recommendation engine is solid and very transparent. You see which other user with similar taste are being taken into scope for your recommendations and how they rated the movie. I takes some work to get started (you need to rank a good number of movies first) but allows a high level of flexibility. I often use it to filter on time period, genre and/or country and then pick the movie with the highest potential score. The site is fantastic for getting an estimate if you should pick up a movie; I check it for almost everything I am interested in.
