A community for mods of Lemmy to work together

MODERATORS

One community I mod is primarily for sharing images. I initially required uploading to services like Imgur or PostImages and post the link to Lemmy, to decrease hosting demand, but it’s much easier to simply upload it to Lemmy. Does it make sense to re-require uploading elsewhere? I don’t want to contribute to hosting overload, but I’d like an easy user experience.

@[email protected], if you can weigh in, I would appreciate it too.

Can you compromise and have a file size limit, or could the server transcode the file to a reduced definition?

Perhaps later, premium accounts could be given a bigger storage option to compensate.

I think a file size limit would be fair, if space becomes an issue. I don’t think lemmy users would want to have limited resolution, so I would probably just opt for using Imgur or something. I would probably leave an instance of a lemmy if it started including premium accounts. I think the community-funded approach of lemmy would not necessarily align with a premium/basic model.

That all sounds fair. I am wary to trust Imgur with too much content as we never know when they might do a Spez.
