I'm undecided after looking into it.

I checked what type of rabbits were native to Tasmania and there are none but the European rabbit was introduced in the 18th century and is considered an invasive species.

I don't know much about the European rabbit so I looked into that more and saw a picture of a very similar rabbit to this with the description, "Melanistic rabbits are more common where ground predators are lacking, such as on island or in large enclosures"

So it might be wild after all.
