Swagaxe in rise is something special
Its way harder to use safely in world
A lot of people people seem to be suggesting it. Looks like a favourite on lemmy. Ill try it out
With the wirebug moves you can pretty effectively stay in sword mode
And you dont seem to take nearly as much damage from the monsters moving around and attacking while you are zero sum discharging their face
In world at master rank the only safe way to get zsd off on a monsters face is if you have a temporal or rocksteady mantle on plus you have to use axe mode sometimes. Gross.
Swagaxe because bias
I second switchaxe but itβs all Iβve ever used lol
swagaxe best axe
i've been maining insect glaive as of late. allows you to move all over the place thanks to wirebugs and being able to boost yourself mid-air.
I think Iβll give it a shot. It does seem cool need to watch some videos to figure out the moves and combos. Thanks for the suggestion
This is never a good question to ask. Everyone is just going to suggest their favorite. Or for the multi-users, all their faves. RiseBreak is really the title to try out everything and see what feels good. And don't neglect mixing up the switch skills. I ended up loving weapons I always hated because of that.
Because you've already dove into what is generally considered the hardest for beginners, you'll probably be fine with anything else you pick up. So I would recommend Switch Axe. It has a lighter gauge management mechanic but is faster. No defense though, until you get the elemental burst counter.
No idea what that comment about LS could mean. RiseBreak is a DPS focused game for a majority of players. But you don't have to focus on it if you have more fun playing a different way. LS is just very counter heavy, so knowing your weapon and the mons very well is perhaps the biggest roadblock.
I think Switch Axe seems to go well with the Charge Blade Build I currently have. Might be a good idea to try it out. I think Iβve relied heavily on blocking, so using something thatβs completely offensive might feel challenging and interesting. Thanks for the suggestion

I feel like OP wants a melee weapon with faster gameplay, due to them disliking the Lance for it being very slow, despite it being a melee weapon.
I was running Charge Blade throughout the campaign of Sunbreak and I decided to pick up Insect Glaive once I hit MR6 last week. I love this damn weapon. You can play it on the ground or go into the air and target monster parts that are hard to reach otherwise.
Unfortunately there's a bit of a learning curve on which kinsect to use (I believe powder and assist are the preferred ones and dual color can speed up the harvesting process), where to aim for extracts on each monster and finding which combos/switch skills work best for you. Despite the initial complexity, it's my favorite weapon thus far (I've used every melee weapon other than switch axe but the bulk of my hunts are with hammer, dual blades and charge blade).
You'll pry my Great Sword from my cold dead hands. No matter the meta it's always at least decent, and dead simple to be effective with. Difficult against mons with quick attacks that have a wide range, though (e.g. Gore Magala).
