All things Death Metal.

You know what to do: spread gory rhapsodies, uncover hidden talents, share thoughts about the evolution of the genre.

Rules

Band - Song Title [Location, Year] [FFO: Band 1, Band 2, Band 3]

Example: Bolt Thrower - World Eater [England, 1989] [FFO: Benediction, Hail of Bullets, Memoriam]

FFO means “For Fans Of” and is not always needed, but can be very helpful in promoting lesser known bands.

Hello /c/death_metal! I'm not sure what the plans for this community is but I really love the threads in the death metal subreddits and wondering whether there are plans for weekly threads. Here's a few albums I've been listening to a lot recently as they are so good! Definitely a wide mixture of death metal genres.

  1. Allegaeon - DAMNUM
  2. Lorna Shore - Pain Remains
  3. Behemoth - Opvs Contra Natvram
  4. Swallow the Sun - When a Shadow Is Forced Into The Light
  5. Archspire - Bleed The Future
  6. Fleshgod Apocalypse - King
  7. Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us (more metal core)

What have you been listening to recently?

Kalmah's new self-titled album is pretty amazing

Haven't heard of Kalmah, I'm going to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

My favorite song of theirs is Hollo, but their new album gives you a good feel of their discography :)

Wow what a great band! I love the melodic aspects - Spotify labels them as melodic swamp metal, not a genre I've found before. And Hollo is amazing!

Archspire and Cattle Decapitation. I listen to much less music than in my uni years so I stick to the favorites only.

I found out about Cattle Decapitation a few weeks ago an they are so great, definitely one of those bands you have to really pay attention to the small details.

Also I love Archspire and almost saw them a couple months ago but unfortunately had to cancel last minute... Hopefully they'll come to Switzerland again soon!

Haven't been listening to much death metal recently but I've been putting on the new Ascended Dead album ever since it came out, definitely my favourite release of the year, just love that chaotic wall of sound style and the drummer is just insane. Other than that it's the usual Morbid Angel + Bolt Thrower combo 😛

I will check this out, I haven't listened to ascended death. Thanks for the recommendation! I love discovering new music, especially death metal.

Send me a message if you do! Hope you dig it, when I say it's chaotic I mean it haha

I've been listening to a lot of Chilean death metal lately. Been listening to Putrid Yell, Rotten Tomb, Suppression, Inanna, and Unaussprechlichen Kulten.

Thanks for the recommendations I'll give them a try!

I've been on a kick of old death metal/old sounding death metal lately.

  • Death - Individual Thought Patterns
  • Necrophagist - Onset of Putrefaction
  • Blood Incantation - Hidden History of the Human Race
  • Horrendous - Idol

Should include Immolation in there, but I don't know them well enough to put a specific album. I saw them live recently and they were a lot of fun, so I've been trying to listen more.

Wow that takes me back, haven't listened to old school stuff since I got into death metal a few years ago - I do need to listen to Necrophagist again, I love how technical they are.

I've been listening to Necrophagist - Epitaph since high school, but somehow only discovered onset of Putrefaction recently, so I've been kinda obsessed with it lately. Tech death is definitely my favorite genre!
