Love the idea but as soon as you lose physical access, software won't stop someone.

Yeah, I would prefer being able to do a back up image of the phone and save it to my computer and then hand it in after doing a factory reset. Then just restore it when I get the phone back. Android sucks in this department compared to Apple.
Yep, the only thing better than encryption is for the data to not be on the device at all.
Now this would be very useful
you can do this on device or using flashing utils.
but you probably need root
This would not be needed if the stupid Android security model didn't prevent people from running their OWN phone with full rights and doing full backups and restores easily.
Hint: the Android security model isn't for your security, but the security of the data that third-party apps put on YOUR phone - that is, consequently, not truly yours.
FYI: this is a speculative article; they are guessing and don't know how it will work, so there are no real details.
This would be glorious.
Also necessary there are very few but apparently some stories that talk about people being hacked because they sent their Android device off for repair or replacement. If ends up in a malicious person's hands and gets used against them some how some way.
Could being the operative word. Didn't look, clikbait, shan't support. If you expected more, sigh.
Is that their new 'fold' on the right in the article thumbnail? I like the chode form factor.
Using a Pixel 7 Pro right now. I used to sell phones for Verizon. I still have connections there and got to hold one in person. I love the look and feel of the Pixel Fold. Hands down the best fold because of its design form factor being wider rather than taller.
I would wait one or two more generations for better battery life though.
