I once saw a man fly through sudokus. I was curious how he could be so good, whats his trick? I asked him because I suck at them. He explained me that its really easy. See these 3x3 blocks? In each block has to be each number one by nine. I told him, that he has to make sure that each row and column also only has one of these numbers.

His mind was blown and than he didnt solve a single sudoku anymore. I was kinda sorry to tell him.

Here are some of mine:

• The Nova Luna rules seemed so intuitive that I kinda skipped the whole section on how to properly complete tasks. We ended up playing by considering the 8 neighbors including diagonals and no chaining. It kinda worked so we played several games this way before I noticed. The actual rules are a lot cooler of course.
• In the 2p Teotihuacan variant I missed the rule that you are supposed to move the dummy dice after each eclipse.
• In Cubitos for some reason I assumed that the first player die couldn't be re-rolled
• In Evergreen I thought that the first player gets to choose which of the remaining cards they put the leaf token on. This one kinda works too.
• In Tiletum I interpreted the map spot bonus with the "3 heads" as getting 3 Character Actions. The actual rule is a lot cooler since you trigger all Characters in one of the houses.
• In our first couple plays of Orichalcum we refilled the Action Board after each pick. The correct way is to refill only at the end of the round which makes the draft a lot more interesting.

In our first game of Dead of Winter, the person setting up the game made a mistake and introduced too many betrayer cards. We ended up with 2 out of 4 of the players being betrayers… making for some really confusing conversations.

Was a fun game despite the absolute chaos.

For me this is the Harbinger card from Dominion 2nd Edition. We played it not strictly following the from top to bottom. So you could look through your discard and then immediately draw it with the same card. It was super broken.

Or playing Milita but you always have to discard 2 cards, even if you are already at 3 or less. It was supid.

Played a game of bsg where the person setting up miscounted the player cards. We thought we were home free when a surprise cylon showed up and killed us all.

In Rainbow Pirates it took us a while to notice you have to lay out cards if you can.

It plays quite differently that way. If you're allowed to keep them in your hand the strat is to lay out enough points so the opponent wouldn't win if they finished while assembling your rainbows in your hand. The special cards targeting the opponents hand and the Ship become much stronger while the ones targeting the island are less useful.

In Quest I thought that evil players, except for Morgana, always had to play Fail.

In our first game of Clank Legacy, we thought that as long as you died above the Line of No Return, or whatever it's called, you got points, regardless of whether you had an artifact or not. This had...implications for some of the story choices that we made.

Dead of Winter.

The first player token passes counter-clockwise, while play order proceeds clockwise.

This means the last player in order each round becomes the first player the following round. This is specifically impactful when dealing with the games hidden betrayal mechanic since it allows you to reveal yourself as the last action of a turn and then gets a second turn before any players have a chance to react.
