Something the article does not really mention well is that the greenbelt is a significant wildlife corridor. As seasons and food supplies change animals need pathways that are reasonably seperated from human development to travel to new areas. The greenbelt does an excellent job of this by connecting many forests and wetlands to each other while also reducing the impacts nearby developments have on these habitats.

Raise house prices for those nearby. It’s like a shoreline. Also makes housing more scarce.
If we can add a shoreline equivalent that easily we should create more greenbelts!
