I'm currently in the market for a new phone, but not sure if i want a fairphone 5 or a pixel 8
I want a

  • microSD slot
  • headphone jack
  • customROM support (for de-googling/and root)
  • decent picture quality
  • I like performance but it doesn't have to be the very very latest
  • the device should be case-friendly
  • should not exceed rougly 165x75mm

with fairphone it seems i have to pay out the nose, but get less picture quality, less custom rom support for the microSD slot
with a pixel I support google instead of local companies and fairer trade, get better images, better custom ROM support and will lack a microSD slot

may be that I'll decide by picture quality of Fairphone 5 vs Pixel 7, and if the Fairphone can hold its own, I might choose that

I hope it will have a jack too, but my FP3 should hold until FP6 is released anyway ๐Ÿคž

I am a bit disappoited about the CPU and the substantial price hike, but most af all the size increase. Is there any market research at all indicating that customers want 6"+ displays?
