I’ve got some that are correct, some that are 90° rotated, and some that are 180°.

Happens on an up to date iPad Pro pulling images from Photos in the web client. Safari.

Had this issue a few days ago from a Samsung Note 20 with a photo I took using the phone. Attempted to fix it by changing the EXIF data manually and reuploading, but for whatever reason it kept uploading sideways. No idea what caused it, but its real and it doesnt seem limited to a specific platform/device.

I suspect it’s somehow related to portrait vs. landscape, with Lemmy really wanting things to be landscape.

Most likely it's lemmy stripped EXIF from the image. One workaround is to upload the image elsewhere and then post that external url to lemmy.

That makes sense... wish it would leave at least the orientation alone. I assume it could selectively clear certain values.
