When sorting comments by Top, you can get a situation shown in the image where a child comment has more comments than the parent, causing the parent comment to be hidden. Clicking "View Parent..." scrolls down to the parent comment, but it's shown without the connection to the child comment - which is very confusing.

I can't think of a situation where someone would ever want to read a child comment without seeing the context of what the comment is replying to. Is there a way to disable this type of situation while still being able to sort comments by Top?

Hats off to ya. Encountered this bug for the first time today myself and then I see you've already fixed it. Great work mate!

Legend. This and then making the default view for the profile page being both posts and comments and the app will be just like how I remembered it

Dude, you are amazing. I was bouncing back and forth between 3 Lemmy apps, but you just sealed the deal with Sync for me. Thanks!

is a bug, and it is tracked on GitHub. is one of the pinned ones.

the dev said it was fixed on beta 34, but he did not close the issue. so apparently there is more.

anyway, what you are seeing is a bug and will be fixed, if you want to contribute, post the screenshot in the issue.

Do you have a link? Want to test my fix

You can try out https://lemmy.world/post/3763180

That's where I grabbed my screenshot from and looks like it's still there, but a few down from the top now.

Yeah this bugs the hell out of me too.

Yeah it doesn't make sense. Took me a while to figure out what's happening

This weirdness also happens when a child has more points than the parent (sorting by top)
