The Magical Fruit

The Oromo people would customarily plant a coffee tree on the graves of powerful sorcerers. They believed that the first coffee bush sprang up from the tears that the god of heaven shed over the corpse of a dead sorcerer.

tldw - put a coffee filter over the filter of your cafetière

This isn't so much a life hack as it is a great way to ruin French Press coffee.

The whole reason you don't use coffee filters is because the coffee bean oils are absorbed by the filter and you lose some of the caffeine and flavor.

If you want to use a coffee filter, just use a drip coffee machine. It's the same effect and you get additional features like being able to set it to brew on a schedule.

I personally don't see why we have to gatekeep French press like that.

When I first started making coffee at home, I bought a French press. I found out that I don't really like the silt and oil. The French press ended up being a tea brewer / milk frother.

With this, I can brew bigger batch of coffee using that French press that suits my taste better.

I love the James Hoffman thumbnail knockoff 😂

I have a clever coffee dripper that pretty much does the same thing but more conveniently.

That said, I like James Hoffman's French press technique better, though it is a bit more of a pain.
