[META] 7k subscribers - Call for Mods (self.maliciouscompliance)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by dystop to c/maliciouscompliance

So in just one week, we’ve grown to >7k subscribers (~5.3k on lemmy.world and ~1.2k from the next 5 largest instances), which is way more than I expected.

I've been modding this community alone, and it's been fine - we haven't had many issues so far - but I should start looking for mods before any issues arise.

If you have an interest in modding, please message me or comment below, and I'll reach out to you!

EDIT: thanks everyone who responded, I've got enough responses now!

I am ready and more than eager to accept this position of power, if only to go mad with the power acquired.

I am willing to put in the absolute minimum, if not nonexistent amount of effort into this job, while at the same time taking the maximum amount of credit for how well the whole thing is running.

This is my bid for one of the mod positions.

This method reminds me of someone but I can't put my finger on it.

Would be interested to help as well! I've been modding a 50k subreddit (/r/mcgill) for six years and I just signed up to lemmy looking to spend more time somewhere like reddit but not owned by reddit :)

I’m game! Disclaimer: have been on lemmy < 24 hrs :) 10+ yr redditor.-

Same here, been here ~1week but around 9+ on spezzit.

Ran out of posts to read on the first day. Thoroughly enjoying this sub/thread/mag (wtf should it be called?)

Hey, I'm interested. I have mostly discord mod experience in ttrpg lfg servers and such (started when pf2e playtest came out) but I have a lot of free time and I'm gonna be spending time on Lemmy anyways, may as well spend it productively.

i could be a mod too, but i first have to work out my final presentation for my apprenticeship today. After that i am jobless if i make it. I would suggest that you have small talkings with interested people over something like jitsi.meet than deos not require an account

Edit: i shauld have time again at 1687363200 (unix timestamp ignores timezones)

Oh man good luck. It's never fun modding a large community!

I'm still on 'subscribe pending', but I could help. ;)

I used to moderate /r/Erie, I realize modding a local city subreddit is a bit different than this, but hey, at least I've got experience tard-wrangling a large-ish community.

No interest in modding, but when I view the community on Jerboa via Lemmy.World, it only shows 700 active users, not 7000. Does that imply 6300 inactive users, or is the data displayed to me wrong somehow (e.g., maybe it's missing places like Beehaw that were huge a week ago but are now deleted?).

I use Jerboa sometimes too. There are a few statistics on the sidebar when you view it on the website, including subscribers and active users. I don't know for sure, but I assume subscribers refer to people who click on subscribe, while active users refer to the number of people who have posted in the sub. For some reason, Jerboa only shows active users and not subscribers.

700+ active users looks about right to me though - as with reddit, there's bound to be a large majority of lurkers.

I'd be interesting, I have too much free time right now.
