Unofficial Lemmy Community for all things related to T-Mobile US.

This Lemmy community is based on the r/tmobile subreddit.

Any moderator of r/tmobile that would like moderator access here feel free to send me a message.

Rules (currently copied from the T-Mobile subreddit):

  1. No doxxing

Do not post someone's personal information. Not only is this against the rules here, it's frowned upon lemmy-wide. Please don't reveal any information that can be used to track someone down in real life. It just simply isn't a nice thing to do. Examples might include the full name of any T-Mo employee who helped you, or something that could be used to put their job in jeopardy.

  1. Keep it cool

Simple. Just be excellent to each other. Don't get too heated, don't start tossing ad hominem attacks at people. Focus on the subject, not the person making the point. And if someone is legitimately trying to help you but you're not getting the answer you want, please don't lash out at people. We're all trying to help to the best of our abilities.

  1. Don't be negative

If you need help, please ask! If you're going to complain, make it a constructive complaint. We are all here to help. Posts that are made to bash T-Mobile/Sprint/AnyCarrier/Person/System etc will be removed.

Posts that are purely negative and/or do not promote further conversation will be removed.

  1. Be ethical

Do not be unethical. This includes trying to avoid tethering limitations, offering to bribe employees for device unlocks, or recommending things that break the T&Cs.

  1. Stay on-topic

The purpose of this lemmy community is to discuss all things T-Mobile. Try and focus on T-Mobile when you make your post. Non-T-Mobile posts are allowed if the goal is a discussion about T-Mobile. Direct links to other carrier's advertisements or press releases will likely be removed. Constructive criticism about T-Mobile is perfectly acceptable, but hate, memes, and pure bashing is not.

  1. _______ goes in the Megathread

Megathreads are used when popular topics begin generating lots of posts. If there is a megathread on a topic, that is where you post belongs. Please respect this subreddit by asking your question there first. An exception to this rule is if a major change or breaking news about a megathread topic occurs. Your post may be allowable then.

  1. No account sharing

Posts asking for or offering lines on someone elses account, personal or business, is prohibited.

T-Mobile and Best Buy go way back — and by way back, we mean just about two years as of now. Users could look through and shop T-Mobile’s plans and devices from Best Buy stores without needing to go to a T-Mobile location. That way, T-Mobile became more easily reachable by users.

The partnership was sort of an extension and expansion of the agreement between Sprint and Best Buy prior to the acquisition of Sprint by T-Mobile. Unfortunately, not everything lasts forever.

The carrier is apparently ending their partnership with Best Buy, and the retailer will not offer the carrier’s services through its stores anymore.

As per a Reddit post and independently confirmed by us here at The Mobile Report, T-Mobile will not renew its contract with Best Buy, which first entered into effect in 2021. As a result of this change, T-Mobile’s plans and services will be slowly phased out over the course of the next few weeks.

Best Buy will remove T-Mobile’s landing page from its website on August 31st, and two weeks later, on September 14th, the retailer will end all exchanges and activations in stores.

From the period encompassing September 15th to October 1st, only returns will be allowed. These will shut down as well on October 1st, ceasing all links between T-Mobile and Best Buy completely.

We’re not exactly sure of the reason behind this fallout, as neither T-Mobile nor Best Buy have commented publicly on the matter. It’s likely that as we near August 31st, some sort of public announcement will be published by one or both companies, given that the timeline we detailed above will probably need to be announced so users are aware of what will happen.

For now, though, we can only speculate on what’s happening here. It’s definitely an important loss, however, given users were able to snag really good deals on phones sold through Best Buy during shopping seasons such as Black Friday.

Man, that's unfortunate. I was thrilled when they finally partnered with Best Buy like the other major carriers.

Best Buy is in it's death spiral. I ordered a over the range microwave from them with installation. They sent a third party installation team who refused to install it. Best Buy couldn't do anything to help me except send them out again. After three tries, I got someone who helped me. They kept saying they would send someone to verify the installation could happen before the install, but they never showed up. Last time I'm buying an appliance from them.

Also, their media section is trash. Barebones for video games and even less for DVDs and Blurays. I don't even think they have a CD section any more.

Who has a CD section anymore? Who uses CDs?
