A spreadsheet on ad platform Xandr’s website revealed a massive collection of “audience segments” used to target consumers based on highly specific, sometimes intimate information and inferences.

Not posting an archive link because this is an interactive data story and can't be fully captured by any of the archivers.

Some of these "segments" are concerning. "Bottled Up Stress", "Finacially Struggling Senior", "Reliant on Credit"

Might as well create a segment for "Easy marks for conmen"

you can submit a request to review your data from large data brokers like Oracle, Axciom or Experian.

All 3 links give me timeouts. Hug of death?

Anyone try requesting their own ad profiles from the data brokers listed near the end? I'm curious, but I also don't trust giving them any personal data to verify my identity...

I thought Facebook would know me better but their list is very generic. They think I like Hollywood. I doubt those other companies are any better but I won't give them my real name
