Apologies as I am new here. Trying to find a way to discover new communities within lemmy. I'm currently using Jerboa if that helps.

Edit: Communities can be searched and discovered through the site by clicking on the header and choosing communities. However, it appears that Jerboa does not have that option yet.

In the header: "Communities" --> "All"

Maybe I'm dumb, I can't find how to add a new community to my subscribed list in Jerboa.

Try to do that from the browser and then get back to Jerboa.

Browser works fine. But I'm not always at my PC. Seems like a missing feature in Jerboa?

Yes, as @[email protected] said, it's missing in Jerboa. I use mobile browser to find and subscribe.

Apologies. I'm using Jerboa and I'm unsure how to do that. Would you be able to take me through it please?

Idk, maybe its not implemented there. You can visit your instance in browser, subscribe there and get back to Jerboa.

Yes you are right. It's not implemented within Jerboa but it's available on the web site. Thanks a lot.

  • There's a multi-instance directory of communities at https://browse.feddit.de/. Though communities that JUST got created may take some while to show up there... and it seems like a moderately large number of communities have been created over the last day or two.
  • Another strategy is just to browse through community list at https://lemmy.ml/communities/. Being the biggest instance, the users there have subscribed to the bigger communities on any instances that federate with lemmy.ml so that's a good way to find popular communities.

Change your feed to 'all' and when you find a community you like you can get to it through the individual post and subscribe.

I want some help with this also :)

I’d like to know the same but I’m using Blemmy. It was the only iOS app I could find. There doesn’t seem to be a way to post or get notifications with this app which I don’t like.
