Hey everyone,

does anyonehave reliable information on a possible of upgraded Supernote tablets? I read that X2 versions are planned for Q3 or Q4 of 2023 and that there will even be an A4 but I'm not sure how reliable my source was since I only saw this on some random YouTube channel and no reliable source like Good-E-Reader.

Do you know anything about this? Is it worth waiting for the upgrades?

I don’t know when the X2 models are meant to come out, but I can say that Ratta triea to create devices with long lifespans. They don’t want you to obsess over the upgrades you might miss out on if you don’t wait for the next model, so I’m quite sure the current line will be well supported and probably not deeply disadvantaged compared to the new models.

As far as I remember, the new models have same hardware but are Linux based rather than android. So they're not really an upgrade, they're just a different option for people who want a Linux based device? I'm not sure I'm remembering that right, so I'll try and check and get back to you...

Quoted from hex2asc on r/Supernote (who is an official Ratta rep I believe!)

Q: Should I wait A5X2/A6X2?

A: The main difference between current saling A5X/A6X and future A5X2/A6X2 is that you may select Linux OS. If you are linux fans and want to write some C++ code in the device, you may wait for X2, else just buy A5X/A6X.

Q: Is there any X2 discount for old users?

A: For sustainable development, we do not encourage users to upgrade their hardware frequently. We use eNote to reduce deforestation. But the process of producing eNote also generates carbon emissions. eNote mainly deal with reading and writing, so the hardware requirements are not too high(not like mobile phone), the key is software. The more important key is that users make good use of their own devices.

But for the following users we will provide discounts:

We will provide discounts to A5/A6 users, because our team has been busy with the function development of the X series in the past year and has slow down the software upgrade of A5/A6.

We will also provide discounts to early A6X users, because the plastics near the USB interface and the power button are easy to crack on the shells of the early A6X and A6. This does not affect the use, but it is indeed a flaw.
