"We must consider the greater good for the greater number," Artes added β stressing that hundreds of thousands of commuters benefit from the EDSA Carousel.
Is it really? Mas maganda nga ba talaga sa mga commuters ang EDSA Carousel as opposed to the old system?
For example, if I am coming from somewhere along Evangelista, Makati and I need to go to somewhere along Kamias Road, what would I do?
Under the old system, I'd have to get to Evangelista corner EDSA via a jeepney, use the overpass to cross over to Malibay, get a bus that's bound for Fairview (or beyond), and get off at Kamias corner EDSA, and then take a jeepney to my destination.
Under the new system, I'd have to get to Evangelista corner EDSA via a jeepney, then take another jeepney that'd take me to the EDSA Carousel station at Taft Avenue. I'd then ride the bus all the way to GMA-Kamuning station, and then I'd have to walk all the way back to EDSA corner Kamias, and then I'd be able to take a jeepney to my destination.
The new system is no better than just taking the MRT, if we're limited to areas around EDSA.
The thing that really irks me a lot about the EDSA Carousel idea is how it didn't consider the commuters first. Hindi naman random yung patterns ng pag-sakay at pag-baba ng mga tao, it's usually dictated by where people tend to converge, and this could have been taken into account when making plans.
It seems to me na walang input from the ground yung mga nag-plano nitong EDSA bus carousel na ito. This is similar to my misgivings about the EDSA Bus A/B/C system quite a while back. Alternating ang pattern ng bus A and B, tapos yung C naman is just every bus stop (created as a compromise). People tended to just choose Bus C unless they know which bus route has their destination, or that their destination is beyond EDSA, making the entire system less effective.
Anyways, that's it for my rant.
