I was under the impression that if I blocked a community I wouldn't see posts from it anymore.

Doesn't this apply to the "All” feed or have I misunderstood the "block" feature?

Because I still see these posts.

I'm not using Voyager (found your post by browsing /all/new) but this happened to me on the lemmy.world web frontend a couple times over the last hour, so it might have been some malfunction on their end.

Ah, not a solution but an explanation and my expectations on the feature are reasonable.

Thanks for the input, probably an server issue then.

One thing to consider, and I don’t know how familiar you are with Lemmy as a whole so forgive me if it seems like I’m talking down to you, but maybe you’re blocking a community like “sports” which is hosted on lemmy.world and then you are still seeing posts from a “sports” community hosted on lemmy.whatever or some other instance. In that situation they’re still two different communities that both need to be blocked if you don’t want to see them, but they have the same name that shows up in the feed.

No worries, I understand your input and it is valid but I THINK (please correct me if I am wrong here) this isn't the case here.

If I block "[email protected]", it is valid and fully understandable that I would still see posts from "[email protected]". Or?

The reason that I realized I was seeing posts from blocked communities was because I opened a post and where going to block the community it was posted to when I was shown a "unblock community" option instead, the community was already blocked by me previously.

Yeah, that just sounds like a bug. What you’re describing isn’t how it’s supposed to work at all.
