Amazon announced monthly prices will increase by ¥100, and yearly prices by ¥1,000.

What do you think? Personally, if it helps drivers get a better wage I am all for it.

I've been trying to ween myself off Amazon, but it's far too convenient here, especially since I don't have a car. I'd use Rakuten ichiba more, but there's just too much information density and I like being able to pick some deliveries up at the konbini.

Not a big enough deal to drop it for us; my wife watches stuff on Amazon all the time.

I mind a bit (but not enough to cancel... yet), but do you honestly think the drivers will get a better wage out of this? Is Amazon Japan any less greedy than the american one?

Probably not. To be honest, I’m a prime member for the photo storage. After google photos stopped their free tier, I looked for the cheapest cloud offering. Prime Japan was the cheapest. Shipping and music etc are just gravy for me.

I honestly can't justify paying for Prime. I don't mind waiting a few days, and shipping is free above 2k

I appreciate the shipping, but as someone that doesn't consume Japanese content, there is nothing for me in prime.

The free books are all Japanese and prime video does not respect your language preference and simply shows everything in Japanese.

Ah prime video is a doozy. Unless it is Amazon original, it will list the Japanese dub and the English original as separate videos. Of course, Japanese content is only in Japanese, but you can watch a lot of English content (the whole or most of the 007 franchise for example).
