What would need to be done to get pinned weekly film release discussion threads going? One of my favorite things to do after seeing a movie was finding the r/movies discussion thread to read thoughts, theories, etc. I would be willing to set these up each week if given the ability. I'm guessing I would have to be a mod to do this? I think I would be able to do that if it would help the community grow. Or should there be a dedicated community for just this?

Not sure how it works on Lemmy, but I'd be for this! I'm the same with you with liking to easily find the discussion posts for movies each week. Since this is movies and TV maybe there could be the option for adding posts for new ep discussions for TV shows people want to track.

Someone already made a community for the show, The Bear. I imagine there would just be a new community within this instance for each TV show. Then a weekly episode discussion thread pinned to the top. This wouldn't really work for movies though, there are just too many. But I think a "discussion" community with just discussion threads for each new release would work. Then also people could post their own threads for whatever movie they wanted to discuss as well. But it would have to be limited to strictly movie discussions, no news, rumors or anything like that. If some more people chime in and agree, I will get started with making it and posting some recent/new release threads.

The mods would only have to pin the post, but I believe anyone can make the thread.

Yeah, it would be simple to do, but it would be nice to have a structured post like how r/movies does where there's a pinned thread with links to the discussion threads of all the new releases. And also all the info like cast, synopsis and such. I'm really leaning towards just a separate community for discussion posts and have them all in there, but they can be cross posted to this community as well.
