Hello guys. I started playing again after 5-6 years, and having a blast. However, here are a lot of plant pokemon on my town so i thought in get & evolve some of them.

I am level 24, and got to evolve a Jumpluff, but it has very little CP (less than 600CP) even for a 3form evolved pokemon. It has good IVs, but i saw on a online database that it caps on 1850 CP. So i got this question, how important is really CP? Is it worth powering this little girl up?

I am not gonna lie, i find her cute, that's why i wanted to use it in gyms, and things like that.

CP represents the power of the pokemon. It's useful to get powerful pokemons. The only reason to get low CP pokemons is for Player vs. Players since there are limits. You should not upgrade every pokemons.

CP for most Pokémon are not that important. What you want is a IV calculator to check how "perfect" your mons are. I use Calcy IV for android.

So CP isn't important as long as it has good IV? Right?

I would say for a casual player, CP is much more important than IVs in terms of ability to fight most of the content in this game (exception being Go Battle League, where there are CP limits).

But really, the game is just about collecting the Pokemon you like. It's possible to use just about anything for fighting gyms or 1-2* raids.

In general, the easiest way to get "strong" teams is to find Pokemon which are already high level (lots of stardust to power up), have a high maximum CP when evolved, and have the ability to learn two moves of the typing that you want (at lower levels, having 2 grass type moves is more important than having the absolute highest CP).

You can generally avoid IVs unless you just want to collect high IV Pokemon, or you're already very invested in the game and want to squeeze out the last bit of power possible.

It depends on what you want to use her for. Cp is a measure of overall power.
