Everyone of course knows Fentimans and Fritz-kola. But there is also Cockta from Slovenia and Kofola from Czechia. Does anyone else knows of local EU coca-cola alternatives that we might want to explore? And of course, where we can buy them online:

Cockta

Kofola

Here's some Cola syrup a friend has been making in Australia.

Cola should not be your first choice to stay hydrated, but it's okay to drink Cola once a week or so

Buy your locally produced Cola. Don't start to import cola produced in Germany to Spain or the Norwegian lemonade to Italy. Don't ship sugar water trough Europe by lorry, we have enough traffic on our motorways already.

I fully support this. And for all the above-average curious people who need to hear this (like me):

Please stay strong. Maybe one day you will be where that other cola is. You could even use the web to get to know someone who is travelling there soon and will be able to buy some and giving it to you after coming back.

If you think, wow, this guy's overthinking, taking this way too seriously, well... even when you only want minimal to no social interactions and on top of that do not want to practice mutual aid and just satisfy your curiosity and/or imagination of a perfect Cola:

Why don't you try to produce one yourself with this open source recipe?

Don’t ship sugar water trough Europe by lorry,

pfft, actually deal with the situation - build pipelines. jfc europe get it together

Tbf, that's the upside of a major corporation like Coca Cola. They only transport the syrup and fill the bottles at local factories.

Cuba cola from Sweden.

Oh wow, how did I miss that? :D Sorry!

Don't worry, still solid advice ;)

Cockta has a dark color like cola but it doesn't really taste like it. It's more herbal, it's like Coke vs DrPepper

In Portugal practically all medium to large chain has its own brand of Cola, competing with Pepsi and Coke.

I would guess everywhere else in Europe too no? For non-Portuguese: Your supermarket probably has its own brand, eg Aldi Cola, Lidl Cola…

In Eastern Germany they have VitaCola, which was their former GDR Cola. They still outsell Coca Cola there, but I guess it's an acquired taste. I personally don't like it very much

It tastes ten times better, since it contains some lemon flavor.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Which tastes very artificial IMO.

But maybe it's just like with Club Mate or Coffee, you need to have a few of them before you like them

There's easily 100 different kinds of Cola and Cola-Orange ("Spezi") mixes produced in the EU it's easiest to start taste-testing with everything in your local grocery store and finding out if one of them is to your liking. If you're from Germany, there's at least Fritz-Cola, Afri-Cola, Proviant-Cola, Paulaner Spezi (and Spezi made by many other breweries)...

Not from the EU, but from Switzerland if that also counts: Vivi Kola

Breizh Cola, from Brittany in France https://www.breizhcola.bzh/

Molecola from Italy! It is really good! https://molecolaitalia.it/

OMG I love Cockta 😍. It has it's own very nice and distinct taste. But unfortunately it's very hard to get in Germany. And it's also not made in Slovenia anymore but in Croatia. (Which is a pity, but thanks to the Croats for bringing this drink back to life, and marketing it successfully)

Kofola is also very nice, because you can get it fresh from Tap in Slovakia and Czech Republic

Afri-Cola and Fritz-Kola taste both not very good IMO, but the other Lemonades and MischMasch from Fritz are great though

We have Grans Cola and extra cola here in Norway, probably a lot more as well, but shipping them internationally would probably not be worth the hassle if you have local produce. I can recommend club mate cola for import, its strange enough not to be too commonplace.

If I never see a post about Coca Cola alternatives again it will be too soon. Why are all y'all so freaking obsessed?!

[–] x00z 3 points 4 days ago

We drink a lot of cuba libre.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

Just a local ripoff. I personally drink blues zero, it tastes the same as Coca Cola zero

Cuba Cola from Sweden

Der Dracola

I hadn't tried it myself but saw it suggested somewhere else. It's the austrian Coca Cola version

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

You can make your own cola syrup, there's a bunch of recipes out there.

If you are in germany, i can recommend the kaufland store brands, in my opinion from all store brands they taste the closest to coca cola brands

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Dieter Schwarz (German richtest Person a billionaire) the owner of Kaufland is infamous for exploiting worker rights where possible, fighting unions etc. Just because its european doesnt mean we gotta support those guys

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Spezi, Alaska, Oettinger ColaMix All german. Well atleast from what i know. An app showed me they are owned by coca cola but idk

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

That App is wrong...
